The Women Development Cell (WDC) at Dignity College of Arts and Science is a dynamic platform committed to empowering female students and promoting gender equality on campus. The Cell actively works to create awareness on women’s rights, personal safety, mental well-being, and social responsibilities through diverse initiatives such as workshops, training sessions, and awareness programs.

Self-Defence Training Program

As part of its ongoing mission, the WDC organized a Self-Defence Training Program to equip female students with practical skills to ensure their personal safety and empowerment.

Objectives of the Program:

  • To empower women with essential self-defence techniques

  • To enhance confidence and awareness about personal safety

  • To provide strategies for effectively managing real-life threats

Program Highlights:
The session was conducted by Coach Sooraj, Head Coach at Volcano Fit n Fight, who emphasized the significance of self-awareness, situational preparedness, and mental resilience.
Key aspects of the session included:

  • Demonstration of practical self-defence techniques applicable in daily life

  • Emphasis on posture, quick reflexes, and situational judgment

  • Active student participation under expert supervision

The interactive nature of the session encouraged enthusiastic involvement from participants, helping them build both confidence and practical skills.

Dignitaries Present:

  • Principal: Prof. Muhammed Aslam

  • WDC Coordinators: Mubeena Moossa, Niyatha Haneesh

The program was officially inaugurated by Principal Prof. Muhammed Aslam and WDC Coordinator Mubeena Moossa, who both stressed the importance of self-defence training in today’s social climate.

Outcome:

The program successfully fostered a sense of security, self-confidence, and resilience among participants. Beyond physical techniques, students were encouraged to develop the mental strength necessary to handle unexpected challenges in everyday life.
